TalkToNUS.com is a project developed by volunteers focusing on increasing the transparency in student governance, by offering a free service to student society. TalkToNUS provides with an accessible online form for students to get in touch with their regional and national elected NUS representatives, petitions, and a smidgen of accountability.
At present the NUS website offers little access to representative's contact details which is where TalkToNUS.com fills the void in communication that exists in the NUS executives with their membership. In order to limit abuse, we require that everyone uses an academic email address, and have other measures in place, based on those used by WriteToThem.com.
mySociety's ambition to use the internet for a better society can be applied to all sectors of governance, and TalkToNUS.com is a UK student implementation.
We have posters to print yourself, and stickers and cards to order on demand (no money goes to the project from these sales - but they're great to give out. The stickers especially). Get yours now.
How Can I Help?
If you don't have anything to petition or write to the NUS about, that's ok, you can do other things:- Test the system — If your academic email doesn't work, just email us and let us know which institution you are at. We can then add it to the database.
- Ask your Students' Union to put a link to TalkToNUS.com on their website
- Forward news of the site on to student officers, societies, voluntary groups, campaign groups and generally any students.

TalkToNUS.com is was conceived and built by Emily and Sam; and is supported by a team of people. We would like to thank everyone who has helped the project, including mySociety.org who graciously host the service on their "friends and family" server, and all the volunteers however much they do for us, a disproportionate number of whom are called Tom. We are also very grateful for a donation from a supporter who wanted to remain anonymous. You can get in touch with the team behind the site via email to team@talktonus.com.
